Music Video

My music video is 'Forget You' by Cee Lo Green. Here is the video from YouTube:

In class, we have been doing presentations on the first initial analysis. Here's mine:

During my own analysis of this video, I picked up the theme of women being misrepresented. One example of this is on page 6 (relationship between music and visuals), I've stated that the girl is only interested in money and success. For example the girl 'The Heartbreaker' isn't interested in the young Cee Lo Green because he can't afford a flashy car and is paying more attention to another boy and this is portrayed using toy cars; young Cee Lo Green has a truck and the other boy has a Ferrari. I feel that this is sending the wrong message out about what (all) women are interested in because it gives the image that women are only after 'riches'. Some women may only be interested in money and succes but I feel that it shouldn't be represented in music videos (especially in the pop genre as it is the most widely watched genre of music video) as young children may be watching and feel that this is the 'norm'.

Whilst discussing my presentation in our lesson, another theme was picked up on and that was how early love starts. For example the music video presents to us this girl 'The Heartbreaker' in the beginning and we are shown throughout the whole video Cee Lo Green's attempts to impress and 'get the girl' from an early age right through to his adult years.
