C.D Cover

As part of this coursework we need to design and make a CD album complete with a front and back cover. In class we've been looking at different CD covers from different genres; for example Massive Attack, Nicole Roberts, Cheryl Cole, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Ian Brown.

We had two sheets of paper with two different cover images and we analysed them. The cover images we analysed were:

Front Cover Album Image

Nicola Roberts: Cinderella's Eyes (Pop genre)

Front and back covers

Marilyn Manson (Rock/metal genre)

and

Back Cover Album Image

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers: (Rock genre).


We analysed each of the covers and discussed several topics:

• Why the artist had used this specific image
• If the image fitted the genre
• Was the image related to anything that had happened in the artist's personal life
• The font of writing
• The placing of the information of the record label and copyright signs
• Track titles (Red Hot Chilli Peppers)

We've come up with some ideas for our own CD cover. We drew them out roughly and hopefully they relate!

Front Cover Design/Idea

This is our first idea for our front cover. It's not very clear but it's a freezer with two people dressed in black wearing the white mask that features in our music video. This idea ties in with the name of the song we're doing; Frozen and we also wanted an iconic image that audiences would remember as it makes it popular and also it sticks in the mind. We looked at iconic album images in class and had to guess them. Here's the sheet:
